Brand company Eight Partnership partnered with the Hong Kong Institute [...]

Brand company Eight Partnership partnered with the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs to create a documentary “The Money Secrets of Children”, and saw success with three honours in the 2010 Questar Awards, including the gold award in the “non-profit organizations: documentary” category, “best of documentaries,” and “best of show”.

Made in 2009, the five-minute video features the Institute’s “Rich Kid, Poor Kid” programme, which aims to teach children the basics about money management. The film shows children being asked simple financial questions to which they gave a variety of answers, from funny, to downright bizarre. By highlighting these unique responses, the video demonstrated children’s need for accurate financial knowledge, which the Institute has provided through its programme. The film also showed teachers, parents and accountants, who serve as teachers for the programme, explaining its objectives.

“It is great to have the video recognized as it further promotes the outreach work of the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs. In addition to shattering the stereotype of strict and dull accountants, this video persuasively brought out the real need to teach children financial knowledge,” explains Charles Brian-Boys, Partner at Eight.

“We are delighted to be recognised for our creativity and passion, attributes that CPAs possess but seldom promote,” said Winnie Cheung, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs. “To win the best documentary and top non-profit organisation awards were already a huge accolade for our social responsibility efforts; but to be honoured with a best of the best prize was truly surprising and inspiring.”

Eight launched a viral campaign for Perfect C Breast Enhancer [...]

Eight launched a viral campaign for Perfect C Breast Enhancer that has to date accumulated over three million views and become the topic du jour on the web.

The video features a young lady, ditched because of her inadequate breasts, taunting the offending ex-boyfriend after boosting up with Perfect C Breast Enhancer.

“By creating a story around the product, we added the extra twist that made it a true winner, compared to the typical advertisements in this category which merely feature celebrities and models. The story was crucial in attracting viewers, leaving a lasting impression as well as generating further discussion,” said Eight’s Creative Partner Chris Kyme.

The viral has attracted one million viewers on Tudou (before being taken down by the site just 48 hours later). It has also reached over 1,050,000 views on YouTube and 600,000 views on 56.com, while generating wide press coverage and some heated debate.

Jeanne Zhao-Clot, from
Perfect C Breast Enhancer, is delighted. “This viral campaign is really incredible. I have never seen several million clicks on an ad! Our website has seen an significant increase in traffic and we have received more enquiries on the product.” The viral can be found by typing “C Cup Hong Kong Girl” in YouTube, and the product is on sale in selected beauty and wellness shops around Hong Kong.

To promote ten years of strength by the Tracker Fund [...]

To promote ten years of strength by the Tracker Fund of Hong Kong (TraHK), brand company Eight Partnership has built a campaign that connects the fund to the vibrancy of the city itself.

The campaign emphasizes the stability and endurance that has characterized the fund by drawing on the imagery of Hong Kong’s iconic skyscrapers.

Since its launch in 1999, TraHK has kept a relatively low advertising profile but wanted to promote its robust connection with Hong Kong as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. State Street Bank and Trust Company, as trustee of TraHK, turned to Eight for a campaign that would convey the long-term stability of the fund.

“For this campaign we knew that the key was to focus on the direct link between TraHK and the city itself. We built our work around the idea that TraHK is as strong as Hong Kong – reflecting the fund’s stability and steady growth over the long term,” explains Melanie Osborne, Digital Business Director at Eight.

Ads from the campaign launched online, in print and in MTR stations around the city beginning in November.

For the launch of The PuLi Hotel and Spa in [...]

For the launch of The PuLi Hotel and Spa in Shanghai, brand company Eight Partnership created a launch campaign, website and collateral that put the focus on The PuLi’s unique blend of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary design.

Art is at the centre of the campaign as the new hotel was built from the ground up with an eye to creating a refined experience that blends China’s rich cultural traditions with the latest technology and highest quality service. Eight’s work drew on this inspiration to create visuals that capture the beauty of The PuLi’s art and presented it with a clean, modern look.

“Everything in the hotel was carefully chosen and put together with passion. We wanted to bring this out in our work by presenting the hotel as art – putting the focus on the beautifully displayed artifacts found within the hotel,” explains Charles Brian-Boys, Partner at Eight.

From the massive 32-metre Long Bar made from African teak wood, to the latest in lighting technology to keep with the brand’s environmentally conscious views, The PuLi has established itself as a completely new hotel experience for guests with discerning taste in design. Since opening, it has bucked the trend of low occupancy that has affected other luxury hotels in Shanghai – testament to the appeal it has in the market.

“From the outset we designed The PuLi to be a markedly different experience for our guests. The key idea was to create a seamless experience that melded the old and new with unparalleled service and facilities. Eight immediately understood our brand and created a campaign and collateral that perfectly matched who we are,” says Markus Engel, Director of Urban Resort Concepts (URC), the hotel management company of The PuLi Hotel and Spa.
